In 2004, OVA initiated an extensive project to improve the two small buildings between the Central Pool and the Lawn Bowling area to provide additional space, address security issues (due to open access to building facilities on all four sides of both structures), and potentially provide OVA-owned space for the association offices.

The Long Range Planning and New Construction Committee summarized member input in the document “Oakmont Community Building Program.” At that time, the LRPC membership was composed of a representative from major groups such as the Fitness Club, the Library, the Computer Learning Center, the Arts group, and the Lawn Bowling group, etc.
“Ultimately, even though the project to create the Central Activity Center met many of the objectives set at the time, in hindsight it’s clear much more could have been done had there been more community willingness to step up financially.” — George McKinney
