What We Heard From Oakmont Town Hall
LRPC held a Town Hall was held in November that summarized of the information gathered in the Voices of Oakmont (2015) survey, the Future of Oakmont Town Hall (2018), and research conducted throughout 2019 by LRPC. Four needs were identified:
- There is a critical need for more space to properly support our activities,
clubs, and fitness center.
- We need to keep Oakmont competitive and attractive so we can continue
to attract new home buyers.
- A performance venue would be very useful to our residents and clubs and
could be a source of revenue.
- A community gathering center would enhance our sense of community
and improve social interactions essential for this time of life.
The summary concluded that “Meeting these needs is essential to keep Oakmont competitive over the next 20 years and would be seen as affordable to new buyers and most existing residents.”

- Voices of Oakmont Survey (2014-2015)
LRPC coordinated a survey that reached a substantial portion of association members (1,250 online surveys and 389 paper surveys were returned). Some survey findings and recommendations:
- Preserve Oakmont’s own open space and maintain access to Annadel.
- Develop alternative plans to update the Berger Center. . . Some residents want a modest update while the majority wants extensive remodeling, even rebuilding.
- Homeowners in Oakmont are concerned about preserving their property’s value.
- When planning for the long-term future of Oakmont, it makes sense to pay particular attention to the wants and needs of the youngest residents.
Despite the heroic efforts expended doing this, the survey findings had little subsequent impact. Voices of Oakmont Survey
